This product is the mainstay of feeding stabled horses around the world. Lucerne hay is grown on Manuka Farm as well as neighbouring properties, and is stored for later use as the raw material in the production of Manuka Chaff. Almost all of the Lucerne used in our chaff is grown on the rich Liverpool Plains, whose soils are renowned for supplying all the vitamins and minerals required for healthy animal production.
Produced from the wheat stubble or the hay portion of a wheat crop, wheaten chaff is very high in fibre and is generally used as a source of roughage and bulk in the diet, but has lowest digestible energy concentration.
Like wheaten chaff, oaten chaff is very high in fibre making it an excellent source of roughage for your horse's diet. A starch-based energy source, this is the easiest of cereal grains for horses to chew, and is convenient to use for mixed rations.
Manuka Haylage® is premium lucerne forage conserved as a small brick silage for horses. 100% of the lucerne used to make Manuka Haylage® is grown and cut from the fertile black soil of the Liverpool Plains around Quirindi NSW. It's high in protein and nutrients, contains no dust, is low in sugar and horses love the taste.
We also supply a blend of Lucerne and Oaten chaff in one bag as a mix. We do not add molasis or any other product as the molasses masks the quality of the hay and adds to the sugar levels in the animal’s diet.
